'Niigata Food and Flower Fair in Singapore' held at TERRA

I just spent my afternoon attending “Niigata Food and Flower Fair” Opening at this Tokyo-Italian dining restaurant 'TERRA'.

The restaurant is opened by Chef Seita Nakahara, a previous Executive Chef of Enoteca L'Operetta, a famous Italian restaurant ,and also one of the top six (among 500 Japanese chefs) in Japan's largest chef competition "RED-U35".

So, what is this 'Niigata Food and Flower Fair' about?

Niigata is a city situated on the Sea of Japan along the great Shinano river. Being blessed with abundant water and extensive farmland, the region provides bountiful farm produce and fresh and delicious seafood from the Sea of Japan. It's also one of Japan's great agricultural cities, ranking top in the nation for rice paddy area and wetland rice production, and third for the value of its agricultural output. In addition to rice, the city produces a variety of fresh vegetables, fruit, and marine and animal products in each of the four seasons, as well as bewitchingly beautiful flowers.

Using these ingredients, Chef Nakahara has created a special menus just for the fair to suit the tastes of Singaporean.

The 'Niigata Food and Flower Fair in Singapore' sponsored by the municipality of Niigata, Japan is scheduled to run from today November 18(Wed) to December 2(Wed) at 'TERRA' at Tras Street.

Seita Omakase Course Meal

Appetizer:

Carrot Mousse, Buratta, Extra Olive Oil

Botan Ebi Carpaccio, Edible flower Kakinomoto, Preserve Lemon dressing

I felt the combination of sweet crunchy and bitterness(very mild) was just right.

The Salmon Roe hidden underneath with the Botan Ebi prawns added a welcome pause between the sweet flavours, and the Kakinomoto (purple chrusanthemum) gave an interesting texture to it.

PASTA

Pappardelle Zuwai Kani, Dried Tomato Belly, Grilled Leak

I was pleased with the sweetness and freshness of the Zuwai Kani Crab.

They were quite large, juicy and succulent. The tomato berries sauce exploding with flavour.

MAIN

Crispy scale Amadai, Turnip and Edamame Soup

The small slice of Amadai fish easily just slide into my throat, the crispy scale was complex without being overpowering and complemented the dish in a delicate fusion. The tasty Edamame soup added to the deliciousness of the dish, and this is definitely my favourite.

DESSERT

Assorted Persimmon Torta&Gelato

Persimmon orange, a splash of tingling sweet sour taste, and a spoonful of gelato whirred up at the side — and it’s good.

Totally, I hear you.

This Seita Omakase Course Meal cost about SGD$128++

Starting from today November 18 (Wed) to December 2 (Wed) at 'TERRA'.

Not cheap, but its really totally worth the price. Enough to fill up your stomach and totally delicious.

Convenient parking available at Orchid Hotel, a short walk from Tanjong Pagar Station towards the shophouses side quickly brings you to this hidden Japanese restaurant featuring cozy seating and atmosphere.
